CASE METHOD WORKSHOP - Integration of Case-based Research and Teaching

Description

The case method facilitates the understanding of complex issue or object in real business and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through previous research. This methodological approach allows for an application in research and in teaching.
Whereas case-based research is an exploratory approach to theory building on the basis of a detailed contextual analysis of a limited number of events or conditions and their relationships, case-based teaching offers an unstructured business problem to learners with constraints and incomplete information as found in real business issues and places the learner in the role of the decision maker.
Our workshop puts emphasis on the integration of case-based research and teaching by 360° approach of designing research projects for a case-based curriculum and developing the complete research agenda including the transfer of a final research case into a teaching case.

Target

During the summerschool the participants will explore the diverse field offered by the case method. The focus of this workshop is put on teaching and writing case studies.
Participants will work individually or in groups on an own case study during the course and learn how to design case based courses and how to run case discussions effectively.

There are 20 places for this module of the summer school.
